Join Kaare Melby of Finnskogen Farm for a free day-long pig butchering workshop on Wednesday, December 4th! Pigs are a very useful animal to have on a homestead, but a lot of people are intimidated by the idea of butchering a pig. In hopes to reduce or remove this barrier to raising pigs, we have organized a class focused on teaching pig butchering to beginners. This workshop will teach you the process of butchering a pig, and give you the opportunity to ask questions and get hands-on experience. This class is open to everyone, no experience necessary.
This class will be partially outdoors, please wear appropriate clothing that will keep you warm and can get dirty. All supplies will be provided. A limited number of students are welcome to help with dispatch and gutting on Tuesday, December 3rd at Finnskogen Farm- please let Charlotte know at farmmanager@organicconsumers.org if you are interested in joining the Tuesday session.
This is a free class made possible by the Finland Food Chain, North Shore AgroEcology Center, and a generous grant from the Laura Jane Musser Foundation. Please RSVP here to let us know you are coming.
