Welcome to the first in our series on home fertility production. Soil health and fertility are vitally important in managing our edible landscapes. Plants grown in a soil with balanced nutrients loads, robust nutrient cycling, and a rich soil ecology (think micro-organisms!), grow healthy, robust, nutrient-filled crops. Each session we will examine a different technique and/or methodology for creating fertility at home.
.
In this session we will be exploring how to make a plant-base ferment for soil health, specifically using comfrey. During this session we will talk about the comfrey plant, its nutrient and growth characteristics, what is fermentation, how it differs from a water extract, methods for making a comfrey fermentation, and different application methods. We will also discuss a few other plants that can be fermented with the same process, either separately or in combination with comfrey. Join us for the in person workshop on Thursday, July 13th at 4 PM, or watch the video at your convenience at a later date.
