Soil Secrets – Growing your soil, growing your crops

This workshop will be both indoors and outdoors!

Learn about the complexity of soil communities, soil health through cover cropping, crop rotation, nutrient management, the importance of carbon sequestration (organic matter), composting, tillage and explore new technologies like cold plasma for local “sustainable” fertilizer production. Learn how to read a soil test, evaluate the health of the soil and build a soil that is more resilient and productive.

Outside, (dress appropriately, especially for bugs) the workshop will evaluate the soils of the AgroEcology Farm. Bring your own soil sample in a ziplock bag for the class to see and evaluate. Join us and get jazzed about the mystery, wonder and magnificence of soil!
