May 16 @ 4:00 pm - May 18 @ 7:00 pm

Free

The suckerfish have started running! Join us for one or both parts of this two part workshop, catching and cleaning the fish on Friday (TOMORROW) and smoking/processing them on Sunday.

Catch, clean and brine!
Friday, May 16th (TOMORROW) at 4pm
Meet at the Clair Nelson Center to carpool together the creek
(6866 Cramer Rd, Finland, MN 55603)

Smoking and processing!
Sunday, May 18th at 4pm
Meet at the Clair Nelson Center Pavilion
(6866 Cramer Rd, Finland, MN 55603)

In this workshop, Elaine Heine will show one of the many ways of catching, cleaning, brining, smoking, and storing sucker fish that you can do at home using any old backyard grill, charcoal, and aluminum foil.

Come to either or both parts. It takes about 3 hours to smoke the smaller ones, and there will be plenty of pre-brined fish ready for folks who can only make it on Sunday to use. If anyone wants to bring their own grill to smoke your own fish, Elaine will be demonstrating on a classic round Weber grill and you are welcome to bring your own but it is not required.

This is a free class made possible by the Finland Food Chain, North Shore AgroEcology Center, and a generous grant from the Laura Jane Musser Foundation.
